Beef with Bamboo Shoots

A delicious beef with bamboo shoots recipe

  • 400g beef steak (sirloin or rump)
  • 1 can sliced bamboo shoots
  • 6-8 spring onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup oil


  • Cut beef steak into thin strips
  • Drain and rinse bamboo shoots
  • Crush garlic and salt, mix together
  • Heat stir fry or frying pan over high heat, add and spread oil
  • Add beef and stir fry for 1 minute
  • Remove beef and put on one side
  • Add 1/3 tablespoon of oil and stir fry bamboo shoots for 3 minutes
  • Add garlic and fish sauce and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes
  • Add spring onions and stir fry for 1 minute
  • Add the beef to the pan and stir fry quickly for 1 minute
  • Remove from heat and toss in the sesame seeds
  • Serve hot
