The Bamboo Spade?

I was wondering if any of you have used or owned The Bamboo Spade, manufactured for and sold by MidAtlantic Bamboo. I seriously want one however they seem a little pricey at $175 each. If it works as good as I think it will, then I have no problem shelling out the money, however, I would hate to get it and be disappointed after the fact.

Currently to transplant bamboo I use a spade, sharp shooter, regular shovel, limb-loppers, an axe, blood sweat and tears coupled with some choice four letter words. These tools have worked so far but I am very curious about this Bamboo spade. I appreciate any knowledge anyone of you might have.

Spade Reviews
by: Caroline

Has anyone else been using the bamboo spade and who would like to post a quick review?

The comments and feedback so far have been very positive and it looks like a useful tool to own for working with bamboo.

Very Nice

It simply works like a large chisel. Well made and cut through 1-1.5 inch culms with sweat but no strain. This would be the only tool necessary for most (bamboo) transplant jobs.

Bamboo Spade is Good
by: bamboo jew

I used it yesterday, I dug up a 3 ft wide root stump. The owner cut off all the culms but the rhizomes were still all intact. It was a solid mass of fused rhizomes. This tool is awesome. Takes muscle and endurance to use it but it kicks serious butt. I want one but im too cheap to buy one right now.
