Bamboo Fabric
The properties of this material make clothing, towels, sheets and bedding, bath robes and underwear incredibly soft, smooth, and luxuriously comfortable to wear and use.
The round surface of the fibre makes it smooth and comfortable next to the skin, and being a natural fibre it does not irritate like some synthetic fibres.
Absorbency
It obtains a higher level of absorbency than cotton and is reported to be 3-4 times more absorbent. It is the high water absorbency rate of the plant that makes it the fastest growing plant in the world. Bamboos retain that property in fabrics with the result of wicking away moisture from the skin and allowing it to evaporate. This quality leaves you naturally drier and more comfortable than other natural materials such as cotton.
Breathability and Temperature Control
It is the remarkable natural breathability that also provides it with an inbuilt temperature control. Bamboos are cool to touch in hot weather, a property that it maintains in the form of fabrics that leads the wearing of it to keep you cool in the heat along with its ventilation and moisture absorption properties. These same properties within the micro structure of the fabric keep you warm in cold weather through permitting warm air to get trapped next to your skin. A base layer made from this clothing is ideal for outdoor activities in the winter or summer, cooler or warmer climates and environments, it will help you to retain an even balance of body temperature.
Clothing
Clothing made from bamboo fabric is increasingly popular with outdoor activities enthusiasts due to the properties described above. I recently went to an outdoor exhibition and there were many stands there that now stock clothing made from bamboos as all or part of their range of outdoor wear. I purchased a sweat top with a hood and it is absolutely brilliant. Soft material, warm of chilly days, cool on warmer days. I certainly recommend it to be one of the most useful and adaptable items of clothing I have ever bought.
